After a '5 Star' performance at the MICCA Finals in Lowell on October 25th, and a platinum show good for a second place (95.4) finish at the NESBA finals in Bridgewater on November 1st., the Shepherd Hill Marching Band turned in what co-director James Flynn called "their best performance of the season", finishing 3rd (95.875) out of 21 bands in Group 2, at the USSBA National Championships, in Annapolis, MD on Saturday, November 6th. The performance also earned the band it's first caption award (best music) at a USSBA National Championship show. In addition, the band was awarded the prestigious Esprit de Corps Award given by the Marine Corps to the band best exemplifying the characteristics of pride, professionalism and patriotism. Congratulations to all memebers of the band!!!
This past summer, several current and past members of the Shepherd Hill band competed with, and staffed, the Citations Drum and Bugle Corps. Stephanie Bates, Kelleigh Boyle, Juile Brown, Sammy Gaulin, Justine Lempicki, Dave Macuga, Adam Pranaitis, Eric Pranaitis and Julie Sequeira helped the Corps take the bronze medal (third place), in the Open Class, at the DCI World Championships, in Indianapolis, this past August. Several of these members were also honored at the Citations end of the year banquet. Dave Macuga, the Corps Drum Major this year - who also 'Aged Out' this year - earned the 'Citation of the Year' award, while Stephanie Bates (front ensemble), Justine Lempicki (front ensemble), Eric Pranaitis (drum line) and Julie Sequeira (guard) each earned achievement awards in their respective sections. Helping to instruct Corps members this year were former 'Hill' band members (and current staff members), Brent Gilmore and Josh Szymanski. Congratulations to all on a terrific summer!!
Shepherd Hill's Winter Percussion ensemble took first place at the NESBA championships at Dartmouth High School on Saturday, March 28th. With a score of 87.75, "The Hill" bested 8 other schools in the "Percussion Scholastic Marching 'A'" class, to cap a terrific season. Congratulations to all percussion members.
Scoring 83.3 (that's eight three point three) the Color Guard took third place at Reading Memorial High School on Sunday, March 29th, in the "National Scholastic 'A'" class. Over the season the Guard continued to improve their performance, resulting in Sunday's emotion filled season ending show. Congratulations to all Guard members.
